Ymir Report #67 ā€” Year in review

Published 3 months agoĀ ā€¢Ā 1 min read

Heya friend!

Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iā€™m building.

INTRO

Happy New Year!

It's been a little bit since the last update. I hope you're doing well šŸ’–
ā€‹
I took some time off during the holidays, but a lot less than I probably should have or needed. I ended up doing some work anyways šŸ«

The big thing I did was write my year in review. This was a very draining exercise to do because I talk a lot about ADHD, mental breakdowns, starting therapy and more. I'm still pretty exhausted from it.

The whole thing is 10,000 words long. There's a good section on Ymir where I discuss some things I haven't here. So feel free to go check it out if you feel like reading about what I'm thinking of Ymir after three years in business.

PRODUCT

You can always view the history of Ymir's product development at https://ymirapp.com/changelog.

I onboarded a new customer over the holidays who found a lot of small issues with Ymir and ElastiCache. Based on what I found with them, I'm making improvements to the ElastiCache integration and making some much needed upgrades like Graviton and Redis 7 support.

I'll be rolling those out over the next two weeks.

MARKETING

I'll be in Phoenix in two weeks for WordCamp Phoenix. I'll be talking serverless there. Excited to see what happens.

I also applied to WordCamp Europe, but not about serverless. We'll see if I get accepted!

BUSINESS

You can always view Ymir's up-to-date business metrics at ymirapp.com/open. They're updated every 10 minutes.

Not too much to say here as I'm slowly getting back into things. December ended up being brutal. Lost three customers.
ā€‹
January has been ok. I got some trials and conversions. I might end up being up for the month.
ā€‹
That said, I still don't feel like I'm over this plateau yet. I didn't realize until I did my review that it started in May last year. So it'll be almost a year soon šŸ˜ž

Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iā€™m building. INTRO Greetings from Japan! I've been here for the past two weeks after going to WordCamp Asia. This is probably my last trip to Asia for the foreseeable future. I will probably go to CloudFest instead of WordCamp Asia next year. I can't afford to do both. There has been little work done on Ymir because I had friends visiting Tokyo until last week. I've also been...

Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iā€™m building. INTRO Heya! A bit late sending this report again. The last two weeks have been challenging personally and I've just focused on myself more. I did manage to get some things done, but I mostly took time for myself. #selfcare I got one product and one marketing change out. Business is still roughly in the same shape as before. I'm still thinking about things and...

Heya friend! Carl here. You signed up to receive updates about Ymir, the WordPress serverless DevOps platform that Iā€™m building. INTRO Happy Monday! I'm a bit delayed sending this report out. (It's also not really edited šŸ˜…) I got back home at midnight from WordCamp Phoenix. I gave the serverless WordPress talk I gave at WordCamp Asia last year. The talk went great and the WordCamp itself was surprisingly good. I didn't expect to network as well as at a flagship WordCamp. But I did so it feels...
